Nigeria defeated Liberia 2-0 in a 2022 World Cup qualifying match played in Tangiers on Saturday evening.

As the Super Eagles improved their hopes of qualifying for the competition, Victor Osimhen and Ahmed Musa both scored from the penalty spot.

After goalkeeper Boison Wynney pulled down Kelechi Iheanacho in the box, referee Youssef Essrayri first signaled to the spot in the first half.

In the 15th minute, Osimhen took a step forward and converted his penalty kick.

Late in the game, Musa added another penalty to seal the victory.

Nigeria is still in first place in Group C, with 12 points from five games, two more than Cape Verde, whom they will face in the last qualifier.
