My Reasons For Aspiring To Become ATCON 2ND VP – Muyiwa Ogungboye

My name is Muyiwa R. Ogungboye, I am the CEO, Estream Networks Limited. My desire to contest for the position of 2nd vice president is to grow the Association that worked tirelessly to liberalise the sector with all its resources.

No doubt, the Association has made its mark in the Nigerian telecom industry but there are still a lot of work to be done which can only be done by someone that is passionate, experienced and well informed of what is going on in the industry.

My utmost desire is that ATCON as the umbrella body for all telecommunications companies in Nigeria will continue to wax stronger in the area of influencing policies that would grow the industry from where it is today to where it should be tomorrow. The industry is working today because the leadership of ATCON is not sleeping. I have to contribute my own quota to the continuous growth of this Association.

It is obvious that the structure of Nigeria Telecommunications and ICT sector is not really beneficial to Nigeria as a country in terms of foreign exchange earnings because most of the inputs in the sector are imported from the developed countries. If we must change this trend we must give ATCON the necessary and required support.

If we really want to pursue Nigerian Local Content development vigorously as a nation with the intention of increasing its impact on our revenue that accrue to our nation then we must devise a means of producing those inputs locally.

I pledge to work with other NEC members to accelerate the implementation of local content for the good of all Nigerians.
