ATCON Re-elects Teniola as President, Nnamani, Ogungboye Emerge 1st, 2nd VPs

Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) has re-elected Mr. Olusola Teniola as its President for second term in office while President/CEO of Medallion Communications, Engineer Ikechukwu Nnamani and the CEO of eStream Networks, Mr. Muyiwa Ogungboye emerged as First and Second Vice Presidents respectively.

The newly elected officers would serve the association’s national executive council (NEC) for next two year.

Teniola who returned unopposed at an election conducted shortly after the ATCON’s annual general meeting (AGM) held at Lagos Travel Inn, Toyin Street, Ikeja said pledged that the NEC will continue to work towards upliftment of the association and the industry at large.

According to him, part of the NEC’s agenda is to have a befitting and digitised Secretariat for ATCON.

Teniola said ATCON will not relent in its advocacy for better operating environment for member companies.

He also encouraged the members to remain diligent in their operations while expressing gratitude to them for the confidence they have in him to continue in office.

Teniola said, “Today, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem is the SSG of Akwa-Ibom State, while Dr. Ernest Ndukwe served as EVC of NCC. That tells you that ATCON is known for quality and effective representation”.

He stated that ATCON continue to engage state governments in addressing issue of fibre optic cable cuts in major cities.

The newly elected 1st VP, Engineer Ikechukwu Nnamani contested alongside the immediate past 1st VP, Dr. Anthony Nwosu and Mr. Ibrahim Dikko, while Mr. Muyiwa Ogungboye emerged winner after contested alongside Mr. David Roberts.

Nnamani said ATCON will create new partnerships that will better position the association and its members for opportunities.

He said ATCON will partner with players in other sectors such airlines in the aviation industry for members to benefit.

Nnamani said the NEC will intensify its efforts in educating state officials on the importance of telecom infrastructures to the growth of their respective states to address the issue of Right of Way (RoW), fibre cable cuts and others.

Meanwhile, the 2nd VP, Ogungboye said he will ensure that NEC engages with industry regulator and members in a more structured manner.
