National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, beliefs that gale of defections from opposition political parties into the All Progressives Congress will improve the fortunes of the party, especially in the South -East.
He said this while inaugurating the APC National Reconciliation Committee, in Abuja, on Monday.
With specific reference to the November 6, Anambra governorship election, he said, “Worthy of mention is Anambra state where we are about to hold the governorship election.
“We have recently received five serving, and four former members of the House of Representatives, nine members of the state assembly and chieftains of PDP and APGA into the APC, paving the way for our victory in the November Anambra governorship election.
“Today, the South -East geo-political zone, hitherto referred to as the stronghold of opposition parties, is gradually melting into the APC and increasing the fortunes of APC to remain Nigeria’s leading political party.”
Buni urged the Senator Abdullahi Adamu-led nine-member reconciliation committee to ensure the reconciliation of aggrieved party members before the national convention.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the inauguration, Chairman of the Committee, Senator Adamu said, “All the members of the National Reconciliation Committee that I have seen are positive. We believe we will be able to accomplish the responsibilities bestowed and the mandate given us today.
