Community Health and Research Initiative (CHR), has stated that additional human resources would enhance Prmary Health Care (PHC) services delivery, while urging Bauchi state government to recruit more health personnel to address the deficit in the state’s primary health care centres.
Advocacy and Accountability Manager of the group, Hajiya Zainab Mohammed, made the call in Bauchi, on Wednesday, during an advocacy visit to the state Head of Civil Service (HOS), Malam Yahuza Adamu.
She he visit was to encourage government and relevant bodies to tackle the inadequacy and seek the prompt release of annual budgetary allocations to primary healthcare.
Mohammed said it was also seek a way forward on the issues of inadequate ambulances, drugs and commodities at the PHCs in the state.
Responding, Adamu said that the state government was working around the clock to ensure the recruitment and deployment of qualified staff across existing PHCs.
He said government was striving to sanitize the nominal and payrolls of the state’s civil servants before recruiting additional hands.
“We want to address the paradox in our civil service where workers are exiting from the service on retirement, but the volume of our monthly salary keep increasing,” he said.
