Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria has said that its proposed University of Agriculture to be located in Ikirun, Osun State will help in poverty eradication.
The Amir (National President), Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria, Dr. Mash’hud Adenrele Fashola gave the hint in his remarks at the 65th annual Jalsa Salana Conference held at the group’s Conference Ground, Ilaro, Ogun State on Saturday.
According to him, the conference theme: Social, Political, and Economic Emancipation Through Moral Re-Orientation’ was informed to stress the need for everyone to tackle injustice in the Nigerian society.
This he said should start from the home, urging men to marry a God fearing woman and never to give out their daughters in marriage to men because of their position and wealth.
He said the conference was aimed at bringing about like minds to brainstorm on sustainable social, political and economic emancipation through re-orientation in all Nigeria sectors.
In a lecture delivered by Naib Amir, (Deputy President) South West Region Region the Jama’at, Alhaji Abdulazeez Alatoye, stated that” it’s no longer a debate as to the fact that the world is structurally retarding in social, political and economic ideologies values. Which is the main reason for the theme, in order to coined the world and put people into the right direction, because there is a lot of injustice in the Nigeria”.
He said, “The first challenge in Nigeria is that no one is thinking about the other person, which is extremely selfish and has resulted to high level of unemployment in Nigeria, mismanagement of resources, dishonesty, embezzlement of money which has led to the closing down of some companies in Nigeria.”
He also quoted the Fourth Khalifa saying: “if anyone desires with an open mind to investigate the root cause of all evils, whether social, political, economic or moral, one will always find that the disregard for Justice lies at the heart of all such evils. Hence the world cannot become an abode of peace until mankind adheres to justice. Justice is crucial to survival of mankind, this is because when injustice, tyranny and oppression take hold, certain social evils are born, and these are capable of destroying a whole nation”.
Meanwhile, one of the invited guests, the PDP Gubernatorial aspirant in Ogun state, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka applauded Ahmadiyyah on the theme of this year conference.
According to him, re-orientation is important in governance and in our total emancipation as a people.
He said, “Having a strong view that the problems we are having in our government today centers around our leaders and the laws in our value system and also pleased that the conference is meant to tackle such.”
Isiaka urged governments, religious leaders and NGO’s to continuously talk to Nigerians on the need to maintain the high level of right values because “it is the break down in our value system that is highly responsible for the problems we are having in our environment.”
He commended Ahmadiyya on the organization of the conference, the stability of the for the past 65 years and also the orderliness displayed by it faithfuls.
Isiaka urged Nigerians to emulate such style in the society and governance.
